3rd Annual Zeta Pi Zeta – Lambda Chi Alpha Charity Golf Classic
The 3rd Annual Zeta Pi Zeta Charity Golf Classic was a terrific success and a great time for everyone! The tournament was held on October 19, 2007 at The Crossings Golf Course in Carlsbad, CA. The event kicked off at 10:00 am with range balls and registration. We had 40 SDSU Kappa Alpha Theta hotties helping out with registration and golf instruction during and following the tournament. In addition, following the tournament, the entire SDSU Women’s Pole-vaulting team showed up in full uniform to help rally the bros for the auction and raffle. The Shotgun / 4 man scramble Tournament kicked off at 12:00 pm. 98 brothers and guests participated in the tournament. Cocktails, a silent auction and a raffle followed the tournament. We had awesome donations from our sponsors including: a five night surf condo in Nicaragua, a San Diego Bay Cruise for 8 (including hors douvres, beer and wine) aboard a 50’ Motor yacht, a GO! Motor board Scooter, a 99th US Open Payne Stewart Memorial Plaque, coupons for 5 hours of Professional Massage, a Sector9 Pintail Skateboard, a Quiksilver Wetsuit, 120 Shirts from Volcom, a Brand New Humidor, a Box of La Paloma Cigars, an SDSU Football Helmet signed by Chuck Long along with four tickets to SDSU vs. BYU and an SDSU blanket, an SDSU Baseball signed by Tony Gwynn, an SDSU Basketball signed by Steve Fisher plus 4 tickets to SDSU vs. W. Michigan and an SDSU Blanket and 120 DVDs movies. Following the silent auction and raffle, the cocktails kept flowing as dinner was served. Dinner consisted of BBQ Chicken Breast, Roasted Tri-Tip Beef or Chipotle Pork Ribs, Country Baked Beans, Pasta Salad, Fruit Salad, Cole Slaw and Sweet Cornbread. Desert consisted of Fresh Apple Crisp served with Chantilly Cream. The golf Gods were definitely helping us out with this tournament. The entire week before game day, it looked like rain could shut us down. But game day was sunny and clear with awesome views of the mountains and the ocean. Then, practically the day after the tournament, the Santa Anas started blowing hard and then the tragic fires set in. If that wasn’t enough luck, we didn’t end up having to come up with a dime for any damages caused during the actual event, which was amazing considering the grades on the cart paths. Great time guys!
